Knocked out seven miles tonight as part of training for my 10-mile run. Before tonight, the longest I'd ever done since starting running again last year was 6 miles--which means from here on out, every long run I do will be farther than I've ever gone. I'm going to have to come up with some new routes for these longer distances...repeated laps through the same neighborhoods bore me, but there are some pretty hilly areas in the surrounding area and apparently the sidewalks go missing here and there. Tonight's lesson: having almost the entire initial 3 miles heading downhill is a BAD, BAD idea when you then have to turn around and run BACK...doing it in the dark without a sidewalk for part of the way is also a little no good. Very glad I had a headlamp!
Next week the plan is eight miles, which sounded intimidating a few weeks ago, but after finishing my seven miles playing "speed up for the last mile to beat the dying phone battery so it tracks the whole run," I think I'll be able to handle it :)
